Oh BELIEVE me, I’m not at all OK with Jimmy randomly cheating all the time, like @ the boxing match. (And neither is Richard, it seems. ♥) But I kinda wasn’t sure when Jimmy said “do you love [Mary]?” and she said “I was lonely”—what does that mean?
My interpretation? She did love Mary, but seeing as she previously watched Jimmy beat the everloving shit out of Mary’s husband, she wasn’t going to tell him that she was in love with another woman. Especially since it was REALLY frowned upon during that time frame.
And even if what she said can be taken at face value, I still completely understand and condone Angela’s actions. I don’t think she actively went out and searched for a lady to have a relationship with. I think her relationship with Mary developed like her relationship with Louise; she met a woman, clicked with her, developed a friendship, and it turned into more (albeit it probably moved at a slower pace than her relationship with Louise). Like I said, she received no emotional support from her husband, and she didn’t feel safe around him, and she found comfort in someone that she felt she could trust. Jimmy? Cheated because he could.
