I think, inasmuch as a person can be limited to a single sexual position, Nasir is a bottom.

Interesting perspective. Very good read. Thanks for sharing it.

An alternative perspective to my ‘Nasir is totally a top’ post. Also makes a great argument, one I’m very interested in, especially as I really do think they’d be switches. I feel like I should point this out, though - I mean, guys, anal isn’t the only kind of sex two dudes can have. As gleefully in love as Nasir and Agron are, I’m sure they’re exploring as much as they can in their spare moments. Just something to keep in mind. (I’m looking at you, my lovely PWP authors!)

Oh boy Ashley has feels about the sex lives of fictional characters, too!

My stance on Agron’s and Nasir’s sex lives is that they have not had penetrative sex yet for the following reasons.

1. They really haven’t been together very long, and it takes time that they don’t have to build up to such a thing.

2. They don’t have the time to actually engage in the act. They’re on the run from the Roman army and are defending their lives on a frequent basis. Both Nasir and Agron were pissed at themselves (and everyone else) when Spartacus/Crixus/Gannicus dressed up in Roman garb to test the camp. I don’t think that they would allow themselves to take the time that penetrative sex requires.

BUT! This doesn’t mean that Agron and Nasir aren’t hitting it and quitting it in some way. It was obvious in the hallway scene in 2x08 that these are two dudes who are VERY attracted to each other sexually. I see a lot of handjobs, blowjobs, rutting against each other against the columns of the temple happening.

As far as who initiates the sex? That could really go either way. Based on what we’ve seen in the show, my stance is that while Agron initiated the relationship and made his feelings known first, Nasir is the one who initiates most of their sextimes. As unlit_vogue stated, Agron is much more open with his feelings and thoughts than Nasir is. Agron was once a free man, and shared a very open, honest, and fully connected relationship with Duro. Not even the bonds of slavery could stop Agron from fully expressing himself in any manner. For someone as tough  as he is, Agron is incredibly expressive and wears his heart and his thoughts (however snarky or bitchy) for everyone to see, which is why he was able to share his feelings with Nasir so easily, and why he’s so comfortable with showing his affection for Nasir to everyone.

On the other hand, as a body slave, Nasir was never afforded the opportunity to be open, not only with his dominus but with the other slaves as well. Nasir himself said that he had position and respect, and couldn’t allow himself to be open and vulnerable with the other slaves for fear of losing that position and respect. And because he has few memories of his life before slavery, he doesn’t have the experience of an open relationship with his family to reference. So Nasir is much more guarded, holds his thoughts and feelings close to him, and rarely allows other people in.

But while Agron is extremely tough, he essentially needs direction from those around him. He needs the people he loves to guide him, whether it be Spartacus reigning him in when his temper flares or Duro providing him purpose. Agron’s relationship with Duro really speaks volumes about the type of person Agron is, and  when they are captured and sold into slavery, Duro is really the only thing that Agron has left. On the surface, Duro seemed to need Agron more, but really, Agron needed HIM more, to give him that direction, that purpose, that identity. When Duro dies, Agron’s sense of self is shattered, and he needs direction and purpose again.

Enter Nasir.

But the thing is, once Agron has direction and purpose, he generally lets the other person to set the tone of their relationship. So here comes Nasir, and despite being a body slave, Nasir knows how to command. He had to, in order to be the body slave. Judging from his attitude, Nasir was probably the HBIC of the house, the One Body Slave to Rule Them All. Nasir is used to being in charge, which is why he was so “OMGWTFBBQ YOU JUST KILLED MY DOMINUS AND NOW I’VE GOT NOTHING AND I’M NOTHING AGAIN FUCK YOU SPARTACUS YOU ARE AN ASSHOLE!” when the rebels take over the villa. He is understandably wary and distrusting when he and Agron first meet, but he slowly starts to open up, much to his own chagrin (that entire conversation with Chadara about Agron can be summed up with, ‘NO I DON’T LIKE HIM WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THAT IS RIDICULOUS OH SHIT I’M BEING OBVIOUS ABOUT IT FUCK FUCK FUCK DAMN MY STUPID FACE FOR GIVING IT AWAY SHIT.’).

And when Agron makes his feelings known, and Nasir realizes that he doesn’t have to hide what he’s feeling, it is motherfucking ON as far as Nasir is concerned. He can indulge in his learned instinct of being in charge. Not to mention, and this is just my own opinion, he probably HAS to lead because Agron is fucking awkward, man. I love it, it is one of my favorite things about him, but Agron is the sheer definition of awkward. He is a motherfucking BOSS when it comes to killing, but outside of that, he is bumbling, awkward, and doesn’t quite get how strongly he comes across. He uses the world’s most terrible pick-up lines and look at how he is with Nasir in 2X08. He is FLAILING like nobody’s business and looks like he’s about to break out into song and dance when Mira tells the two of them to take their handjobs somewhere else. You’d think that the guy had never gotten laid before. But I’ve been with guys like this, and you literally HAVE to take control of the situation before he does something like accidentally smack you in the face.

So Nasir takes control of the situation because

A) He is very experienced with sex, whereas Agron is not (although his enthusiasm earns him an A+).

B) He is finally given the opportunity to do such a thing, which is probably intoxicating to him and turns him on like nobody’s business. There is nothing better for a dominant personality than to be with someone whom you are really attracted to, whom you genuinely like as a person, and who is totally down to let you take control.

So TL;DR Agron is the one who initiates the relationship because he is comfortable with doing so, but once the relationship is defined, Nasir is the one who leads in the proverbial bedroom.
