Richard’s “OMG I WONDER IF HE THINKS I’M COOL ENOUGH TO HANG OUT WITH” face.
I heart Richard so hard in this scene. Because God knows he’s not a social butterfly but he just won’t shut up here, seriously, he talks more in this episode than in the rest of the show put together. Like “o hai I noticed you looking at me without actively wincing so I was wondering if maybe you would talk to me ‘cause no one ever talks to me hey I see you like books I used to like books but I don’t think people make real connections no really that’s why I’m just intensing at you hey wanna see my murderous stove mask? Can I tell you about my story about this one time when I shot this guy? You can be my murderous stove friend. You need anyone killed? Or scalped? ‘Cause I’d be down for that. Can I tell you all about my very favorite guns? I’m a virgin.”
And Jimmy doesn’t even blink, just kind of observes him like Richard is a blind puppy that keeps running into the wall, hopeless and adorable. And then just sort of puts him in his pocket and away they go.

A masked man casts a spell on 'Boardwalk Empire'
In the upcoming season’s fourth episode, Harrow has a showcase scene when Jimmy’s wife, a painter, asks him to pose for a portrait — without his mask.
And in the fifth episode, he wrestles with total despair, dogged by the question: Why keep on living?
“Would you fight for me?” he asks Jimmy in his halting rasp.
“Of course, I would,” Jimmy says. “Right down to the last bullet.”
“Then let’s go to work,” says Harrow, opting for life yet sealing his fate.
Huston vividly remembers his own emotional reaction to doing that scene: “I could barely hold it together. Here is a man completely changed who can never live his life the way he used to. He has to start again. But he has to ask himself: Is it worth it?”
