The Massive Epic and Totally Groovy Fanfic Recommendation List 

Ever since X-Men: First Class came out, I have been reading fanfic like nobody’s business. So here’s a long list of the fics I have bookmarked; it’ll be updated as I find more fic, because this fandom has SERIOUSLY churned out some great shit. The link will be posted in the sidebar on my blog.

Charles/Erik Recs

-The Quantum Chaos trilogy by postcardmyster. Charles and Erik throughout the years. AKA THE MOST HEARTBREAKING FIC IN ALL OF FANDOM. SERIOUSLY. THE AMOUNT OF JEARS I SHED EVERY TIME I READ THIS WOULD REQUIRE ME TO BUILD AN ARK.

-Ghost by Skull_Bearer. This prompt from the 1stclass kink meme: Erik was right after all. The government begins openly persecuting and exterminating the mutants. After Charles loses everything he ever loved, he realises that Erik was right all along and joins him. Bonus points for angry, hurting Charles mindfucking people so sadistically that he scares even Erik sometimes. Dark and terrifying and absolutely fucking AMAZING.

-Alekhine’s Defense by sinuous_curve. Post!movie. Charles and Erik meet up, reminisce, play chess, BREAK MY HEART IN TWO IN THE PROCESS.

-a Thrill (to Press My Cheek to) by niched. Pre!Divorce. Charles puts on Etta James and teaches Erik how to slow dance. Beautiful, sensual, and tragic in the sense that we know what’s to come. My eternal creys.

-Tides by Sulwen. Erik kisses Charles for the first time in the rain. Oh Charles, you poor, poor man. I weep forever for you.

-do not stand on my grave by atennuh. in response to a request from X-Men’s First Class kink meme, for Erik/Charles in response to the poem “Do not stand at my grave and weep” by Mary Elizabeth Frye, from Charles’ perspective. All the happiness in the world will be gone when you read this. I highly suggest grabbing a box of tissues and something to hold onto while reading.

-Enjoying an Indifferent Domesticity by sinuous_curve. Charles, Erik, sexytimes, and probably the hottest fucking dialogue ever. Never has the concept of the two of them being husband and wife and parents to mutant babies been so HOT.

-anthem for the already defeated by liketheroad. AU. In which Charles destroys the world. I seriously, seriously have a thing for Charles and Erik joining forces and destroying the world and ruling it as Evil Overlords Who Have Lots of Sexytimes.

-Of kittens and teacups and love by Ren. Modern!AU. In which Charles and Erik are roommates in college, Charles adopts an army of kittens, and Erik loves him anyway. FINALLY, SOME CUTENESS IN THE REC LIST! Seriously, this is the most wonderful fic ever. Its companion piece, ABC Drabbles, is just as adorable.

-The Double-Edged Gift by tawabids. Filled for the xmen_firstkink meme. In which Emma leaves Charles a little gift, and Erik does his best to help Charles through it. Warnings for this include aphrodiasics, voyuerism, and dubcon. One of the greatest fics ever due to the concept of Emma being a creepy psychic ceiling cat.

-Five Times Erik’s Tattoo is Accidentally Shown and One Time It’s On Purpose by Anonymous. Filled for the xmen_firstkink meme. Fic is what the title says. Love it because Erik will always and forever be my Number One Emotionally Constipiated Metal-Wielding Nazi-Hunting Turtleneck-Wearing Holocaust Survivor.

-i am a traveller in my soul by zihna. Filled for the xmen_firstkink meme. Five lives Charles and Erik never lived, and the one they did. It’s not like I needed my heart or anything, no really. Part 1 and Part 2

McFassy Recs

-to wish impossible things by londondrowning. Filled for the 1stclass_kink meme. Michael is completely, one hundred percent head over heels in love with James. James is completely straight. Heartbreaking and painful and way too close to my own head canon with these two. My favorite McFassy fic so far.

-and someday soon by starshipbadass. AU. In which James needs a job, Fassy is a lawyer that needs an assistant, and Bradley Cooper shows up as Fassy’s perpetually horny bro of a partner. HOT AND HILARIOUS, WHAT MORE DO YOU NEED?

-Define Tender by xohmyxjonas. Inspired by the Interview Heard Around The World. Michael is offended that James would say he’s not a tender lover, especially since he doesn’t know for himself. Very close to how I imagine these two flirting with each other in real life.

-Sir Yes Sir by helens78. In which James is the dom we never thought possible and Michael is the subbiest sub to ever sub. Pure, unashamed porn.

-Mutation by Anonymous. Filled for the 1stclass_kink meme. James and Michael having drunk, filthy sex. No other explanation necessary.
